The Beauty of a Baby Book
Did you make a baby book when your child was born? We made one, and we are so glad that we did. The first three months can be such a blur when you have your baby. It’s such an emotional time, an overhaul of emotions really. Family flies in, friends line up outside the hospital room door to meet your brand new baby, and sleep is almost non-existent. You hold on to each moment, worried that if you blink, they might slip away.
A few weeks before I delivered my baby girl, I bought a sweet, but simple, baby book to document the first 12 months of her life. I filled out all the “before you were born” pages, and flipped through the “after you were born” pages and began to get really excited. She’s coming, soon, I kept telling myself, I have never been so happy.
Soon after, our baby was here. My dad was so thoughtful and saved the front page of the newspaper that day, as well as her horoscope. Luckily, had the wherewithal to save her and my hospital bands, and a card given to me by my parents at my baby shower. I pasted them all into the book.
Like every other parent, I took a massive amount of photos of our girl from the moment she was born. Smiling, sleeping, dreaming, bathing, exploring. Every few weeks, I would print off a handful of photos and paste them into the book. I would jot down notes, like the date of when she first rolled over, first sat up by herself, first time she said “dada”. After 12 months, I had a completely filled out baby book. All the big, and little, moments that I wanted to hold on to were in there. Photos from her first birthday party, too. It means more to me than any other object in my home. I absolutely cherish it and always will.
While there is no right or wrong way to keep track of special moments, a baby book gives you an organized and outlined platform to follow. You have so much on your plate already as a new mom, the last thing you’d want to do is add one more thing. But I promise, this task is one you will appreciate you made the effort to complete. I know I do!
Some of our favorite baby books are Mushy Books, Memory Books by C.R. Gibson, and the ultra luxe Binth Baby Book. Mushy Books are pretty amazing as they are sleek, modern and have everything you would want and need from a baby book. Plus, they are made by a Mom of 3!
On a side note, have you seen this Grandma’s Brag Book? It is such a cute gift idea for the Grandma-to-be. We also love this 1st Year Frame. A great little reminder of the beautiful growth and development of your child. (C.R. Gibson makes great keepsake products, don’t they?)
